Classes:

Class packages can be purchased with 6, 12, or 24 sessions. Sessions are 2 hours each and can be used during any of the session times. Session times are Mon-Wed, 9-11, Mon-Thur. 1-3, and Tues. evening 6:30-8:30. The session card will allow you to come to class when it is right for you. Demonstrations and one on one instruction are part of the session class setting. Kids classes are a 6 week course on Mondays 3:30-4:30. Check schedule for start dates.

Workshops:

These are usually one or two day adventures on weekends, depending on the firing technique. Additionally, if the participant needs to make pieces for the firing, they should take one or more of the classes. Workshops will be:

* Raku Firing - Raku is a firing technique founded in Japan and once used in making ceremonial tea cups. Since, artists have modernized this slam dunk form of firing clay to produce striking pieces of art. This style of firing can produce a rainbow of iridescent and metallic lusters, classic white crackle with black carbon highlights, or satin color flashes. Instant gratification with amazing and spectacular results.

* Sagar Firing - This firing technique uses no glazes. Here we use a wide array of media, including salt, to "flash" color onto the piece during the firing. Results range from light earthy tones to black shiny flashes. Where Raku is flashy, Sagar is warm and earthy.

* Horse Hair primitive firing - This techniques is best achieved on a white clay body and like the Sagar firing, uses no glaze. It involves the use of horse hair and feathers to decorate your piece. When laid upon the hot pot, the media smokes the piece and produces beautiful designs. Usually black on white.

Cost:

Classes: Single sessions are $35 each, 6 sessions are $180, 12 are $325, and 24 are $600. Kids class is $150. Use of tools, supplies, kiln firings, 10 lbs. of clay and some glazes are included in that price. Inclusive supplies are limited to what is used on the 10 lbs of clay.

Workshops: One days are $125, and $175 for a two day. That includes glazes, kiln firings and use of tools and the firing supplies.
